Black Slavonian pig is an autochthonous pig breed in Croatia. It was created in 1860s part on the estate of Count Earl Pfeiffer, near Osijek, also known by the name “Fajferica”. Black Slavonian pig is a result of planned crossing between four breeds: Mangalitsa, Berkshire, Poland China and Large Black pig.
Meat is characterized by a light rose color and content of intramuscular fat in its quantity and composition provides a unique, distinctive taste. All it needs to ripen are spices and time. Meat of slavonian black pig is beneficial to health and is often recommended as food for diet plans that aim to enhance immunity.
Home of black pigs are spacious pastures along the lake. Each day they roam free enjoying shade of thick oak forest and feeding on what nature serves. Under beech and oak treetoops happy gourmands find their favorite snacks: acorns, beechnuts and fresh grass. Black pigs enjoy such a life for three years, when it’s excellent quality meat becomes an ideal base for top quality delicacies.
