Beef Stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff or beef Stroganov is a Russian dish of sautéed pieces of beef served in a sauce with smetana. From its origins in mid-19th-century Russia, it has become popular around the world, with considerable variation from the original recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb. ground beef or round steak
  • 1 Medium onion chopped
  • 1/2 Cup butter
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon garlic salt or 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 Box fresh mushrooms or 1- 8 oz. can
  • 1 Cup sour cream
  • 2 Cups hot cooked noodles
  • Parsley fresh

Instructions

  • Cook meat and onion in butter.
  • Stir in flour, salt, garlic, pepper, mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in soup and cook, uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in sour cream. Heat. Serve over noodles.
  • Sprinkle with parsley.
  • Makes 4 to 6 servings.
